Justice Minister ‘not a target’ of bomb found near his home

THE Minister for Justice yesterday said it was a “coincidence” an improvised explosive device was found near his home.

Minister Brian Lenihan said gardaí had advised him there was no threat to his security after the army carried out a controlled explosion of the device. He said he had not been a target for the device.

Gardaí were alerted to a suspicious device near a lamp post at 7pm on Sunday night at Somerton Lane, Strawberry Beds, Castleknock. Its location was sourced through garda intelligence.
