Stabbing victim mother-of-three to be cremated
Jean Margaret Gilbert, 45, a mother of three, died from multiple knife wounds on August 28.
Her husband David Bourke has been charged with her murder and is in custody.
The couple have three children, Emily, 10, Alex, 7, and Harvey, 4.
Emergency services found Ms Gilbert’s body at the family home in Laverna Dale, Castleknock, north Dublin on the morning of August 28. She was taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown, where she underwent emergency surgery.
Surgeons were unable to save her life and she was pronounced dead later in the afternoon.
Bourke, 48, was charged with her murder in Dublin District Court two days later.
Ms Gilbert’s remains will be taken to St Jerome Crematorium, Harold’s Cross, south Dublin, this Friday at 1.30pm.
Ms Gilbert, who used her maiden name, was originally from Terenure, near Harold’s Cross.
A memorial service will be held in Rathfarnham Parish Church, Rathfarnham Village on Saturday.
Among the chief mourners will be Ms Gilbert’s parents Bobbie and Amy and brothers Robert and Vivian.
Ms Gilbert is also survived by her parents-in-law Ivan and Elsie Bourke, sisters-in-law Olywn, Shirley and Adele and their families.
Bourke is due to appear before Cloverhill District Court today.
