Concern over quality of childcare in creches

SERIOUS shortcomings in the care given to some children attending creches in Dublin and Kildare have been revealed in a catalogue of incidents brought to the attention of the Health Service Executive by their parents.

One child was found wandering around a playground close to a roadway. It was March and the child was only wearing a T-shirt.

Staff could not tell how long the child had been left out alone, according to documents released by the health authority.
