Prison officer faces probe for alleged tax fraud

A PRISON OFFICER is facing a disciplinary hearing for alleged tax and insurance fraud.

The officer, based at a Dublin prison, is also facing a possible criminal prosecution in relation to the same matter.

The officer was stopped by gardaí while driving his own private car in west Dublin. When officers checked the tax and insurance disks on his car, they found they were registered to the Irish Prison Service.
