Rapist due in court after US return

A CONVICTED rapist who fled to the US six years ago was due in court today after being extradited from the US.

Michael Christian Moran, aged 29, of Tullow Road, Carlow, pleaded guilty in 2001 to raping a woman in a residential area of the town while she was walking home from a hen party on July 18, 1999.

Moran gagged the 27-year-old victim and dragged her off the path.
