Hurling star Dan the man scoops excellence award

THIS week he’d rather be preparing for an All-Ireland final, but there was some consolation for Waterford hurling star Dan Shanahan yesterday when he was presented with a prestigious award.

The forward from Lismore was chosen for the Tower Hotel Waterford Excellence Award for July, a month in which his goals helped Waterford add the Munster senior hurling championship to the National Hurling League title they won earlier in the year.

Shanahan scored 3-3 against Limerick in the Munster final, winning him the man of the match award and a third winner’s medal.
