ALMOST four weeks after news of the Aer Lingus move became public, Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny is finally to visit Shannon to hear local concerns.

He will set out “Fine Gael’s response to the Aer Lingus announcement”, his press office said yesterday, but the time lag involved is likely to render the response virtually meaningless.

Fine Gael appears to have missed its chance to apply any significant pressure on the Government, because the administration has accepted Aer Lingus’s decision to transfer its Heathrow slots from Shannon to Belfast.
