Suicide expert warns parents of ‘sinister’ websites

A LEADING psychiatrist yesterday urged parents to “wake up” to the dangers posed by the internet to children and young people who might be vulnerable to suicide.

Dr John Connolly, secretary of the Irish Association of Suicidology, said there were huge concerns about what he described as “sinister and dangerous websites”.

The websites, he said, not only encouraged suicide but also explained to people how to end their lives.
