Kenny to break Shannon silence next week

FINE GAEL leader Enda Kenny will not break his silence on the Shannon Airport crisis until next week, almost a full month after the controversy broke when Aer Lingus made its decision on August 7.

Mr Kenny has been on holidays in France and has yet to make his first public comment on the difficulties caused by Aer Lingus’s contentious decision to axe its Shannon to Heathrow service.

Party sources originally said Mr Kenny would visit the Shannon region this week and make an announcement on the crisis. However, it emerged yesterday the visit will not take place until next week. It is believed Mr Kenny has not yet returned to Ireland.
