Move could ‘decimate’ €50m golf tourism industry

THE €50 million golf tourism sector could be “decimated” if foreign golfers cannot get access to the south-west via Shannon, it was claimed yesterday.

Promoters who market Irish courses around the world joined in the rising opposition to the termination of the Shannon/Heathrow link.

The IGTOA (Ireland Golf Tour Operators Association) said of they are more immediately concerned at the proposed two-day strike by Aer Lingus pilots next Tuesday and Wednesday.
