Plan ahead: widespread congestion expected

DRIVERS have been advised to plan ahead with chronic traffic jams predicted on what is set to be the busiest weekend of the year.

The AA has identified a host of major events which will add to the traditional tailbacks for the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Tens of thousands of GAA fans are expected to travel to Dublin, racing enthusiasts to Galway, music lovers to Portlaoise and culture buffs to Waterford.
