FIANNA FÁIL took three of the first five Seanad Éireann seats filled last night, as the counting of votes continues.

FF TDs Cecilia Keaveney, Ann Ormond, Labhrás Ó Murchú, Labour’s Alex White and former Fine Gael TD Dr Liam Twomey were all elected to the Education and Cultural panel. FF’s long-time senator Paschal Mooney lost his seat.

Meanwhile, Sinn Féin was poised to gain its first Seanad seat.
