CAB to step up bid to seize Hyland property and cash

THE Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) will take further legal steps this week in its efforts to seize houses, cash and a BMW believed to have been owned by murdered Dublin drug baron, Martin “Marlo” Hyland.

The property and cash are at the centre of legal proceedings taken by the CAB.

The bureau is believed to have secured a court order against any transactions taking place in relation to the property. The court order is due to expire this month.

It is understood the CAB will move this week to have the order extended.

The significance of these preliminary legal proceedings will become apparent when the CAB ultimately goes to court for a hearing under section three of the Proceeds of Crime Act 1996 (as amended). A “section three order” is the name given to the High Court order for no transactions to take place on the relevant property for a period of seven years.

The five houses in the case, including properties at Coolock, Finglas and Moynalty, are believed to be worth up to €2.5 million.

Hyland, 39, was murdered in a gangland-style execution last December at a house in Scribblestown Park in Finglas. Plumber Anthony Campbell, 20, who was working in the house, was also murdered.
