But, like last year’s sodden spectacular, a hard rain’s a-gonna fall.
That was the warning yesterday from Met Éireann forecasters, who predicted heavy showers for the Co Kildare venue on Sunday.
About 80,000 fans are heading to Punchestown Racecourse tomorrow for the two-day spectacular starting on Saturday.
Featuring acts as diverse as the Killers, Snow Patrol, Amy Winehouse, The Gossip, the Saw Doctors and Dizzee Rascal, the event is one of the biggest in the Irish music calendar.
Forecasters are recommending fans pack rain coats and wellington boots along with their tents.
“People will be putting up their tents on Friday night and it will be largely dry,” said forecaster Siobhán Ryan.
“On Saturday the temperatures will be 19 to 21C with light winds and cloudy.
“But on Sunday there will be showers with the odd heavy one and winds will pick up.
“Maximum temperatures will be 16 to 18C.”
Concert promoter MCD believe 70,000 of the 80,000 fans will be camping overnight in 15,000 tents — with each tent accommodating five revellers on average.
MCD is deploying 2,000 security stewards — one for every 40 revellers — while 200 gardaí are expected to be on duty accompanied by 250 medics.
Following the Road Safety Agency’s plea to parents not to let inexperienced youngsters drive to the festival, the event will feature two crashed cars in the main car park.
Gardaí are also putting traffic control measures in place.
