Drivers given harvest warning

ROAD users were urged yesterday to be on the alert for an increased number of farm vehicles during the coming months.

Drivers given harvest warning

The warning came in a joint appeal by the Road Safety Authority (RSA) and Irish Farmers’ Association (IFA) in advance of the peak silage and harvest season.

The public was advised to watch out for tractors, trailers and other farm machinery exiting from fields and farmyards and to exercise caution when travelling behind or meeting such vehicles. Drivers of agricultural vehicles have also been reminded that they are governed by road traffic laws on driver licensing, insurance, standards of vehicle road-worthiness, lighting and tax.
