Horse trainer denies grant misuse

David Ryan from Ballinderry, Tuam, Co Galway, is being investigated by Fáilte Ireland over a proposed equestrian centre which was part-funded by the tourism body to provide trail riding and cross-country trekking.

Cheques totalling €105,330 were issued to Mr Ryan in separate installments in 2005 and 2006 on the understanding that the centre was complete but to date no such services have been operated or offered by him.
