THE Health Service Executive (HSE) is to examine whether it has too many clerical, administrative and managerial staff.

HSE to review staff numbers

It is proposing an overall review that will also look at whether staff in the sector are performing effectively and whether they are deployed in the right areas.

There are in excess of 15,000 workers in these areas of the health service and their union IMPACT has admitted they have been the subject of “attack after attack”, not just from outside the service but also from within, describing them as being typical of an over-bureaucratic health system.
