CHASE flyer targets parties

ONE of the country’s leading anti-incinerator groups will today call for a change of government.

Cork Harbour Alliance for a Safe Environment (CHASE), which has spent six years fighting Indaver’s plans to build the country’s first hazardous waste incinerator in Ringaskiddy, Co Cork, will unveil a hard-hitting flyer which calls on the electorate not to vote for pro-incineration parties. FF and the PDs are the only parties to include incineration in their manifestos.

A CHASE spokeswoman said the group felt compelled to take this strong stance: “This campaign has been going on for six years. The Government has had every opportunity to change its policy on incineration. There are alternatives out there and there is growing evidence on the effects of incineration on human health and on the environment.”
