IN his customary deadpan style, Labour leader Pat Rabbitte yesterday defended the fact that he and his prospective coalition partner, Enda Kenny, don’t agree on everything.

Ireland, he said, was “a coalition country” now. He added: “You are not going to find any two parties — in fact, I’d go so far as to say you’re not going to find any one party that agrees on everything.”

A comment that prompted laughter from the journalists present.
