FF get a sinking feeling as former Cork mayor jumps ship

NEWLY declared election candidate Dave McCarthy has ripped up his Fianna Fáil membership card and, in doing so, the form guide for the Cork North Central constituency.

Yesterday, the Knocknaheeny councillor resigned from the party to declare as an independent candidate.

His decision has thrown into turmoil what was considered the most predictable of the five Cork constituencies.
