Harney admits her role as Health Minister could cost the PDs votes

WITH the health services set to be one of the major battlegrounds in the General Election campaign Mary Harney has admitted that her role as Minister for Health may cost the Progressive Democrats votes.

Ms Harney said she took on the job knowing it would be difficult.

“This is not about a popularity contest. It may well be that my decision to become Minister for Health and Children puts my party at risk in the election but I did it for nobler reasons,” she said yesterday.
