Ahern warns against dirty tricks battle

TAOISEACH Bertie Ahern warned against the dangers of a dirty election campaign yesterday as he vowed to prove the polls wrong and secure a third term.

Mr Ahern insisted only Fianna Fáil could deliver continued economic success. The Taoiseach pledged not to insult or attack any of his opponents during the 24-day battle ahead.

“In the weeks ahead I pledge to give the Irish people the campaign they deserve, a campaign ofissues and policies, notinsults and attacks. I am more interested in attacking problems, not attacking people,” he said.
