Two arrested in Finglas double murder probe

The two, one of whom is related to Hyland, were described by gardaí as “significant arrests”.

The men, aged 26 and 40, were picked up at their homes in Finglas, north Dublin, yesterday morning and are being held under Section 30 Offences against the State Act, 1939.

They are being questioned on suspicion of possession of information relating to the shooting at Scribblestown Park, in Finglas, last December.

Hyland, 39 and from Cabra, north Dublin, was shot dead as a result of what gardaí suspect was an internal feud. Bystander and plumber, Anthony Campbell, 20, was also shot dead.

Two men are suspected of carrying out the murders.

The arrests bring to at least 10 the number of people who have been detained by investigating gardaí.

All of those arrested to date are on the periphery of the actual murder and are not suspects for the killing.

Detectives believe they are making good progress and are “closing in” on the two killers, who are still in the Finglas area.
