Gardaí bid to find family of murdered Eastern European man

The man, in his early 30s, is believed to have been living in the town for at least two years and worked in the area for a time. Two people who were living in a rented house with him, also from eastern Europe, helped to identify the body.

An appeal was renewed yesterday by Superintendent Tony Cogan for information on the circumstances surrounding the man’s death likely to have occurred in the vicinity of the corner of the Railway Field where his body was found, near Semple Stadium and Thurles greyhound track and beside St Ailbhe’s national school. A search for the murder weapon — believed to be a knife — is ongoing.

Anyone with information should contact Thurles gardaí at 0504-25100 or the situation room: 0504-25199.

Meanwhile, two men were still being questioned in Killarney last night in connection with a murder in the town last weekend.

The men, aged 26 and 17, accompanied by their solicitor, presented themselves to Killarney gardaí shortly after 9.30am yesterday and can be held for 24 hours. They were arrested as part of the investigation into the fatal stabbing of James (Jimmy) Brazier, 30, in Pinewood Estate, Killarney, in the early hours of Sunday.
