FF promises to ‘virtually eliminate’ debt

IRELAND will be a debt-free nation and will have a radically overhauled tax system if Fianna Fáil are re-elected to Government, according to a major pre-election economic document published yesterday.

FF is the first of the political parties to publish their economic policy document.

Yesterday, it repeated its Árd Fheis promises of cutting the standard rate of income tax by 2% to 18% and reducing the higher rate by 1% at a cost of €840 million per annum.
