THE media’s very positive to Enda Kenny’s keynote speech at the Fine Gael ard fheis is not shared by members of the public, the latest televised focus group for RTÉ suggests.

Mr Kenny’s speech was hailed by many media commentators as the best he has given since becoming Fine Gael leader in 2002.

But a televised focus group session conducted by American pollster Frank Luntz paints a different picture. The session, recorded for RTÉ’s A Week in Politics, found voters were not enthused by Mr Kenny’s promise to deliver a “contract for a better Ireland”. The programme was broadcast last night.
