Teen rapist in attack on gardaí weeks after release

A TEENAGE rapist who was released from prison after serving a long sentence in recent weeks was yesterday involved in a serious attack on gardaí in Limerick.

The youth, aged 18, has been involved in a spate of crime since his release and yesterday attacked gardaí, with a gang of others, when they tried to arrest him.

Six gardaí were surrounded by a violent mob when they went to the Ballinacurra Weston area at around 12.40am in search of the teenager, who they suspected had earlier stolen a car.
