UNSCRUPULOUS and unlicensed waste collectors are removing incriminating evidence from bags of domestic rubbish before dumping them in fields and on the side of the road.

As Cork county councillors discussed the growing phenomenon yesterday, it emerged that one of their own had been a victim, which led to calls for those caught to be severely fined and have their names published in newspapers.

During a debate on the topic, Cllr Alan Coleman, the Fianna Fáil leader on the council, said thatlast weekend he discovered 32 full bags of rubbish dumped on his land near Belgooly.
