Emergency legislation for the North

EMERGENCY legislation to facilitate the return of devolved Government in the North on May 8 was rushed through Westminster last night.

The bill has the effect of amending Monday’s deadline for power-sharing Government and prevents the dissolution of the Assembly as was threatened.

The new legislation will instead give effect to the historic agreement signed between the DUP and Sinn Féin on Monday.
