BERTIE AHERN’S nomination of his former partner Celia Larkin to the board of the National Consumer Agency suggested ‘cronyism’, Green party leader Trevor Sargent said yesterday.

“I think (the appointment of Ms Larkin) is open to obvious questions because of a lack in transparency and procedures. We are left to accept on face value if this is the right person,” he said.

“As there’s not a procedure in place people have to come to their own conclusions. It does not suggest accountability or transparency and that does suggest cronyism.”
