Clouds lifting over the North, says Hain after deal

NORTHERN Secretary Peter Hain last night insisted a final settlement was now at hand after the ground-breaking deal between the DUP and Sinn Féin to share power.

He said the “clouds were lifting over the North” and that a new era of politics was emerging.

“When you have both major parties saying we will deliver — that gives me confidence that this process is finally achieved. The clouds have lifted and the people can see the future. Those pictures of Ian Paisley and Gerry Adams will resonate around the world.
