TAOISEACH Bertie Ahern has spoken of his relief that the DUP and Sinn Féin finally appear on course to deal with each other and to share power in the North.

Asked yesterday if the restoration of devolution in the North would offer Mr Ahern and Fianna Fáil a political boost ahead of the general election, he replied: “Well, to be frank, 10 years all dealing with this, I’m just glad as an agreement to see it resolved.

“It is far greater for the entire island that we’ve achieved this than anything of a party political nature,” he added.
