FF claims package beats opposition

FAR from eschewing auction politics, Fianna Fáil boasts that’s its new policies on tax and PRSI are more generous than those of Fine Gael and Labour.

It claims the changes will cost roughly €173 million more, on average, in a full year than the proposals of the Opposition, and that the biggest beneficiaries will be average earners.

The one part of the package which was expected was the proposal to drop the marginal rate of income tax from 41% to 40% — a move signalled by Brian Cowen in the Budget.
