Greens’ call for fuel levy would see motor tax abolished

THE Green Party will today call for an environmental levy on petrol and diesel as part of radical new proposals designed to abolish motor tax.

The party’s position paper, launched this morning, will propose a new tax system to replace motor tax.

The first part of the proposal will be a new environmental charge based on the emissions standards, fuel efficiency, size and weight of vehicles.
