Searches to continue after stolen goods recovered

GARDAÍ will continue hunting for stolen jewellery and property this week after recovering several hundred thousands in euro and personal belongings in Tipperary.

Searches to continue after stolen goods recovered

The finds were made in open ground in the Ballyporeen area over the weekend involving operations between gardaí from three counties. The recovered goods and cash have been linked to robberies by a Dublin group of criminals. The items recovered were predominantly jewellery, said garda sources.

The precious jewels and metals, said to be substantial, had been returned to their owners by last night.

The searches were carried out in south Tipperary by detectives from Cahir. However, the divisional headquarters in Thurles coordinated the operation, which also included gardaí from north Cork involved in recent investigations. Their role centred on victims who were robbed in north Cork and were seeking the recovery of stolen goods.

Elsewhere, gardaí from of the Dublin Metropolitan Region were also called into the operation with suspicions criminals from the capital were linked to the stolen items and cash. The Garda Press Office said no arrests were made following the recoveries. “However the investigation is ongoing,” a statement added.
