Motorists warned as poor weather continues

SNOW and ice made roads across the country treacherous yesterday with forecasters predicting more freezing conditions to come.

Exposed highland areas were hardest hit as temperatures dropped to freezing and hail, sleet and snow showers became widespread.

The south of the country, especially many parts of Cork, escaped the worst of the arctic conditions.
