One-in-four TDs fail to turn up for Dáil votes

The level of absenteeism is expected to increase as the election looms and TDs remain in their constituencies to canvass.

Analysis of voting records by the Irish Examiner shows that, since the Dáil returned after the summer recess last year, an average of 43 TDs — or a quarter of the entire chamber — have missed each vote.
