Tensions high at halting site ahead of man’s burial

GARDAÍ were on high alert last night after a public order unit was brought in to arrest five Travellers at a halting site in Co Cork.

The site has been the scene of numerous disturbances in the past few days.

The arrests came just hours before settled Traveller William O’Driscoll was buried. He died last Saturday night in a car crash after trying to evade pursuing garda patrol cars.
