Creed angered by condition of ‘unsafe’ roads

THE total mileage of roads in Cork far exceeds any other county.

But Cork is close to the bottom of as funding league when it comes to the maintenance of its roads network, which tops 11,500 kilometres.

Furious councillors, especially those from opposition parties, rounded on the Government yesterday when a senior County Hall official revealed Cork came 24th of the 26 counties in terms of non-national roads maintenance grants.
