Man, 51 in intensive care after hallway stabbing

A MAN in his 50s was last night hanging onto his life in hospital after being stabbed in the neck in the hallway of the house in which he was sleeping.

Tom Rogers was asleep with his partner when there was loud knock on the front door of the flat at 7.30am yesterday.

The 51-year-old got out of bed and went to open the door of the flat in Liberty House, Sean McDermot Street.

A fight broke out and the Dublin man was stabbed in the neck. A search was made near the scene of the attack for the weapon and a technical examination was carried out by gardaí.

Gardaí were appealing for anyone from the inner city who may have witnessed the stabbing at around 7.30am yesterday to contact Store Street Garda Station.

The Mater Hospital said the stab victim was in intensive care last night.
