Students reveal their naked ambition for charity

STUDENTS at an Irish university are posing in the nip for a charity calendar.

Various parts of the University College Cork campus have been used as backdrops for the “naked ambition” shoots which will benefit five charities.

Twelve students — six male and six female — cast off their inhibitions for the rag week photo shoot. The calendar will go on sale on Monday. A total of 1,000 were printed and they will cost €5 each.

Students said they were inspired by Calendar Girls, the movie starring Helen Mirren based on a true story about members of the Women’s Institute in England.

Jenny Flynn, one of the organisers, said: “I was a little embarrassed because anyone could see it, but we had people making sure no one got too close. Because all the models were comfortable and got into the spirit of it, I just went for it.”

The project had the backing of the university authorities. Charities Support an African Scholar, Cork Simon Community, Make a Wish Foundation, Edel House and Co-Action West Cork will benefit from the proceeds.
