Business drive for west coast motorway

BUSINESS organisations in towns and cities on the western seaboard are demanding a motorway scheme.

Four chambers of commerce have formed a political lobby, in the run-up to this year’s general election, to press the Government for a new highway linking Limerick-Shannon-Ennis and Galway.

Maria Kelly, chief executive of Limerick Chamber of Commerce, said yesterday a new motorway corridor along the west coast was essential to develop a counterpoint to the greater Dublin area and the east of the country, generally.
