COMPANY bosses breaking the law will be hit with fines under a new proposal, it emerged yesterday.

Director of Corporate Enforcement Paul Appleby is calling on the Government to pass a plan for directors committing minor offences to face financial penalties without going before the courts.

Mr Appleby said the move would save the courts time in cases where company directors were escaping with probation orders and small fines.
