FOOD products from cloned animals are unlikely to end up on supermarket shelves in Ireland, despite new evidence that they are safe for human consumption.

The United States food regulator, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), ruled that meat and milk from cloned animals are safe to eat.

Following a five-year study, the agency said food produced from cloned cattle, pigs and goats are “as safe as the food we eat every day.”
