House fires claim lives of two men

TWO men were killed in separate house fires over the festive period in Dublin and Tipperary.

A man, believed to be in his 50s, died on Christmas morning after his south inner city home in Dublin was accidentally set on fire by a lighted cigarette.

It is understood that the man, who still has to be formally identified, was a Polish national who had been living in Ireland for a number of years.
