Recycling company urges consumers to ‘go for green’

EACH Irish household will generate 60kg of used packaging over Christmas, and 164 million drink containers — including alcoholic and non-alcoholic cans and bottles — will be discarded.

That is according to recycling company Repak, which is aiming to collect and recycle 40% of the used packaging generated over the holiday period.

Repak started its Green Christmas campaign yesterday, which will continue until January 7.
