New authority set to target property rogues

A NEW authority will be set up next year to crack down on rogue operators and sharp practice in the property sector.

The authority is expected to address issues such as misleading advertising, exaggerating the size of properties, and gazumping.

Tánaiste and Justice Minister Michael McDowell announced yesterday he had received Cabinet approval for a bill to establish the Property Services Regulatory Authority.
