LIMERICK’s two bishops yesterday called for urgent action to tackle social deprivation in parts of the city.

In a joint Christmas message, the Catholic and Church of Ireland clergymen called for the issue of social exclusion to be a major part of the debate in next year’s general election.

Most Rev Dr Donal Murray and the Church of Ireland’s Very Rev Dr Michael Mayes said expressions of concern have been made about neglected areas of Limerick city and its suburbs.
