Don’t let thieves do a number on you, shoppers told

CONSUMERS have been warned to be vigilant when using their plastic cards during the festive season.

Research published yesterday by the Financial Regulator showed that one in 20 people take no security measures when entering a personal identification number (PIN) with their payment card. The research findings included:

* 68% of people cover the screen or keypad when entering their PIN at an ATM or in a shop.
