Irish couples keenest to marry abroad

WITH the average wedding in Ireland costing about €30,000, it is no wonder Irish couples are the keenest to go abroad to get married.

Seven out of ten Irish couples said they would tie the knot overseas, a survey reveals, with avoiding an expensive wedding and family feuds were cited as the main reasons.

The survey by British-based First Choice Travel Shops and Holiday Hypermarkets found the average cost of marriage abroad is €787.
